Breastfeeding mothers with an excess supply can now donate their milk to premature and sick infants through the Women’s Center at St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital.
The hospital opened its milk depot this week, where volunteer mothers who have been screened can drop off their breast milk. The milk will be stored, frozen and shipped to the Oklahoma Mothers’ Milk Bank (OMMB) for pasteurization.
If you are interested in donating, please call OMMB at 405-297-5629 or visit www.okmilkbank.org/ for more information.
The Women’s Center at St Anthony Shawnee Hospital also offers breastfeeding and childbirth classes and a mother to mother breastfeeding support group. For more information about our classes, visit www.stanthonyshawnee.com or call (405)214-1556.
St Anthony Shawnee Hospital is the fourth milk bank depot in Oklahoma, joining Hillcrest of Tulsa, Jane Phillips in Bartlesville and OU Children’s Hospital.
