St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of a new state-of-the-art CAT Scan (CT)  to its Diagnostic Imaging Department. The SOMATOM Definition AS CT  multi-slice scanner is manufactured by Siemens Medical Solutions USA.

With the unique CARE (Combined Applications to Reduce Exposure) set of applications, such as CARE kV and the Adaptive Dose Shield, the new scanner is able to rapidly acquire high resolution images at a significantly lower radiation dose while maintaining a comfortable patient experience.
"Obtaining the highest quality images at shorter scan times while at the same time significantly reducing radiation dose is critical to both accurate diagnosis and patient safety,” said Tammy Poyer, Diagnostic Imaging Manager, St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital. “The new CT scanner is a great addition to the department and complements the array of services that we offer at St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital."

The Somatom Definition AS is extremely versatile as it is suitable for both routine diagnostic work, as well as for more complex exams in oncology, neurology and cardiology. It’s also ideal for use in emergency situations such as in stroke and heart attack patients where speed is key.
